Some websites (which I have to admit are a little difficult to understand but then who ever said getting a level 7 was easy?) can be found below.

The Butler Model:

  • number 1, i get an account, number 2, the information i need is not even on here! i am heart broken…how can i survive without links to a butler model and the multiplier effect!? I tried google but got an essay on the worlds economy and lots of graphs that looked upside down… i am now very confused and so my conclusion homework is no longer a conclusion, what i’m trying to say is can you get mutiplier effecty things on here and can i have more chocolate for going on your website!?

  • Hey Olivia,

The rewards you will get from going on this website far outweigh those you get from a bar of chocolate!!

    The Mulitiplier Effect:
The creation of one or two industries may encourage more industries to the area.
For example a steel works may provide raw materials for an engineering works which may provide machines for a textiles factory and so on.
Once started, the effect will continue as transport, schools and hospitals are built which provide more local jobs and make the area a more attractive place to live.

    The positive multiplier effect:
New Industry -> Jobs provided-> Local business improves for shops -> More money comes to the area -> Services improve -> House prices rise -> More people move in to the area -> New industry etc

    The cycle of decline
Industry closes or leaves area -> High unemployment -> People have less money to spend on goods and services -> Less taxes and business rates are paid to local council -> The local council invests less in housing, roads and education -> Young people leave with fewer qualifications -> People have more time, less money and fewer opportunities -> High unemployment etc. Petty crime often increases.

  • Butler model added too.

    Hope that all helps.

Anything else give us a yell.

    Team Geog.

  • ohhhhh cycle of decline…how exciting, however i do not value your logic on chocolate bars! i will now spend my entire half term devoted completely to geography and other such thrilling things, team geog!? however i do believe that abbreviation needs an apostrophe…the grammar of teachers these days ’tis awful! team geog’
